Procedures for Vital-Sim VSLS Installation and Updates


 
For New Installs:
1. Download and Install SafeNet Drivers
2. Download and Install Microsoft Access 2007 Runtime

For Vital-Sim Updates:

1. Download and Install SafeNet Drivers
For first time Vital-Sim installs, SafeNet USB key drivers are required:
- Download Sentinel system driver installer using this link Sentinel System Driver Installer 7.5.8
- Save to an empty, temporary sub-directory.
- Un-zip Sentinel_System_Driver_7.5.8.zip into the same sub-directory
- Ensure that the SafeNet USB Key is not connected.
- run Sentinel System Driver Installer 7.5.8.exe
- Select all the default prompts.
- Restart your computer when the installation is complete.



2. Download and Install Microsoft Access 2007 Runtime

Run the downloaded Access2007Runtime.exe to install.



3. Microsoft Access 2007 Activation

Vital-Sim depends on several legacy Microsoft Access 2007 components that are disabled in some situations when user work stations are upgraded to Windows 10 with Office 365. Depending on the version of Vital-Sim installed, you may encounter various start-up errors that prevent you from running Vital-Sim or annoying pop-up warnings are generated. In many cases, these startup problems are resolved by running MS Access 2007 Runtime directly to complete the installation set-up process.

You should able to find MSACCESS.EXE as C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office12\MSACCESS.EXE



Run MSACCESS.exe directly from Windows file explorer to Activate Acess 2007 Runtime.
If you encounter Can't find the database popup message - this can be ignored, Access 2007 Runtime is now activated.



4. Uninstall Before Update

If you are upgrading or updating Vital-Sim, you must uninstall using one of the following methods:
  1. from Windows Start > Settings > Apps
    select Uninstall for Vital-Sim


    or

  2. Run Vital-Sim msi installer - select option Remove




5. Install VitalSim

A download link for the Vital-Sim msi installer is provided from the download page provided for your organization.
Run the msi installer via Mouse right click > Install



6. Check Installed Components

Using Start > Settings > Apps
Check that the following components are installed on your workstation:
  1. Microsoft Office Access Runtime 2007
    install directory C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office12
  2. Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2022 Redistributable (x86)
  3. Sentinel System Driver Installer 7.5.8
    install directory C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\SafeNet Sentinel\Sentinel System Driver
  4. Vital-Sim for your organization
    install directory C:\Program Files (x86)\VitalSim

For Windows 10: Start > Settings > Apps



Note: if the Visual C++ Redistributable is not installed, please download and install the latest Visual Studio 2019 vc_redist.x86.exe
from the Microsoft webpage Latest supported Visual C++ Redistributables
